Double European and World Champion, Jeroen Dubbeldam secured a popular home win at CSI3* Drachten on Saturday night when he went to the top in the 1.45 Medium Tour Final VDL Stud Prize.
Fifteen of the 70 riders in the class moved on to the jump-off, to compete for the top prize of 6250 Euro and valuable world ranking points.
Willem Greve has had a very good show in Drachten so far, and with Carrera (Larino x Contender) he set an early time to beat at 34.78 seconds. It was not to last though, as three riders overtook the Dutch rider later on in the jump-off.
One of them was Jeroen Dubbeldam aboard Classic Man V (Cornet Obolensky x Gralshüter). Dubbeldam tightened his turns to the maximum around the shortened track, and managed to push the time down to an incredible 33.08 seconds to take the lead.
They all tried, but none of those to come could catch Dubbeldam. Closest came two other Dutch riders as Leopold van Asten stopped the timers a second behind on VDL Groep C Zara (Crown Z x Cash) to end as runner-up, while Robert Vos and Interline (Indoctro x Elmshorn) took care of the third place 1.40 seconds behind Dubbeldam – which meant a Dutch quartet on top in Drachten.
