The CSI5* competitions kicked off at the International Longines Horse Show of Lausanne on Friday, with a win for home hero Paul Estermann and Castlefield Eclipse.
The 1.45m Beau Rivage Palace Prize saw no less than sixteen of the 48 riders moving on to the jump-off, where Estermann and the 14-year-old Obos Quality-mare were the fastest ones to stop the clock on 35.20 seconds. Runner-up was France's Maelle Martin riding Giovani de la Pomme (Shindler de Muze x Darco) to a time of 35.42 seconds, while third place went to USA's Lucy Davis on Boucherom (Guidam Sohn x Quick Star).
