Great Britain's Robert Whitaker and the 11-year-old stallion Vermento (Argento x Skippy) won the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix of Ascona presented by BancaStato | Bellinzona | In Memoriam Manuela Bacchi, in Ascona, Switzerland.
Six of the 35 horse-and-rider combinations in the Grand Prix produced clear rounds to move on to the jump-off, where only two managed to repeat a score of zero. Fastest of the two was Whitaker, who stopped the clock on 38.41 seconds – leaving Mexico's Fernando Martinez Sommer and Lady van de Haarterhoeve (Casall x Clarimo) to second with their time of 40.02 seconds. With a rail down in 37.77 seconds, Germany’s Kendra Claricia Brinkop and In Time (Biscayo x Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) took the third place, ahead of Switzerland's Niklaus Schurtenberger and C-Steffra (Clarimo x Lavall I) in fourth who also had to see four faults added to their score in the jump-off. Austria's Dominik Juffinger completed the top five aboard Diachacco (Diarado x Chacco-Blue) with twelve faults in the jump-off.
