Great Britain's Robert Whitaker and Evert (Amadeus x indoctro) won Sunday morning's CSIO5* 1.45m Mystic Rose Prize at the 2024-edition of CHIO Aachen. "It is my first time here, so it is great to have a win," Whitaker told World of Showjumping.
Stopping the clock on 64.97 seconds with only five left to go, Whitaker snatched the win from Romain Duguet (SUI) and Bel Canto de Boguin (Grenat de Grez HN x Arpege Pierreville) in second in 65.19, while McLain Ward (USA) and First Lady (Don Diarado x Lordanos) placed third in 65.64, followed by Leopold van Asten (NED) and VDL Groep Kiara (Clearway x Papillon Rouge) in fourth in 65.73 and Koen Vereecke (BEL) aboard Oilily de Muze (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Ramiro Z) in fifth in 66.37.
"He has been a great horse for me in the last few years," Whitaker said about the 15-year-old Evert. "He is a bit older now and we have won a few ranking classes and been close to a few Grand Prix wins. He has helped my black stallion Vermento up to the top level, so I am very grateful for him."
