At Jumping International de Valence, Saturday's CSI5* 1.50m Prix Axeria ended with another Irish victory as Cian O'Connor and Veneno (Chacco-Blue x Balou du Rouet) took the top honours. The couple, already fourth in the opening class on Thursday, produced the incredible time of 59,68 seconds – three seconds faster than their closest competitor.
"It's a lovely victory! I really enjoyed this arena, the organisation is amazing, I've been here since the beginning of the first weekend. Veneno is very consistent, I haven't had a pole down in two weeks. He deserved to win!"
In this 1.50m against the clock, the podium was completed by the Italian rider Alberto Zorzi who finished his course in just 62,55 seconds with Ulhane de Coquerie (L'arc de Triomphe x Feofar de Rhodes). Zorzi was followed by the back bone of the French National Team Kevin Staut, who scored a time of 62,98 seconds on Gravity of Greenhill (Nabab de Reve x Conterno-Grande).
