The French riders started the second weekend of competition at Jumping International de Valence on a strong note. Out of the six classes of the day, five made the French hymn heard by the delighted crowds at the Haras des Grillons.

All classes in the CSI2* and U25 were won by tricolours couples. The Prix Smartphone Recycle (1.20m) made Vincent Mourier victorious, while Olivier Perreau won the Prix Le Dauphiné - Haras des Grillons, Laurent Guillet was the best in the Prix GBG Assurances (1.40m), and the young Romain Dreyfus took the first place in the Prix Haras des Grillons (1.40m), dedicated to riders under 25. Only the first class of the CSI5* was won by a foreign rider: the Brazilian Pedro Junqueira Muylaert, victorious in the Prix Hubside (1.45m).

The main class of the day, the Prix Mercedes-Benz, was set at 1.50m and led to another victory for Harold Boisset riding his loyal 11-year-old mare T'obetty du Domaine (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Diams du Grasset). They were the fastest to finish the course with a time of 66.65 seconds. "My horse is amazing in this arena, I think she likes it here! She jumped really well once again. This week, my goal with her is the Grand Prix. I think it's going to be harder but she's such in a great shape these days that I believe we might have a real chance."

Italian rider Giulia Martinengo Marquet with Verdine SZ (Verdi x Heartbreaker), took the second place with a time of 68.65. USA's Jessica Springsteen, first to produce a clear round in the class, took the third place with a time of 71.24 seconds riding RMF Zecilie (Acolord x Canturo).

The winning couple, Harold Boisset and T'obetty du Domaine, has definitively showed their best shape since the beginning of Jumping International de Valence and was already victorious in the opening class of the CSI4* last week, as well as on the against-the-clock class on Sunday. The couple knows each other very well, Harold has riding the mare since 2011 when she was only four years old. He was the one who started the Selle Français mare in competition on the young horses circuit. Since then, they went all the steps together that led them to the CSI5* this year. One thing is sure, we will find this leading couple in the Grand Prix Hubside of the CSI5* this Sunday, with an awaiting crowd to support them!
