It was an International Ring victory for American rider Will Simpson on opening day of the ‘Pan American’, presented by Rolex. Aboard the bay gelding Chacco P (Chacco-Blue x Cera P), Simpson bested 49 other horse-and-rider competitors, posting the quickest clear round in a time of 57.88s in Thursday's CSI5* 1.50m Mission: Possible.
“On a good day, with a good horse, there is no better place to be in the world than the International Ring at Spruce Meadows," Simpson said following his victory.
The track was designed by FEI Course Designer Anderson Lima (MEX) and featured 11 obstacles and 13 jumping efforts, all to be completed in a time allowed of 70s.
While Simpson and Chacco P took the top honours, Kyle King (USA) and Kayenne Z (Kannan x Canezaro) placed second, followed by Mario Deslauriers (CAN) on Costa Quick PS (Conthargos x Quick Star) in third, Juan Pablo Jimenez Torres (MEX) with Aircraft One (Arezzo VDL x Böckmann's Lord Pezi) in fourth and Carly Campbell-Cooper (CAN) aboard Baretino PS (Baloubet du Rouet x Stakkatol) in fifth.
