This week, the Longines Global Champions Tour is set to make history as it lands on the African continent for the first time with the finals in Rabat, Morocco. Marking the pinnacle of the 2024 season, the LGCT finals will feature an exceptional lineup of the world’s top riders competing for a share of over €10 million in prize money.
With all of the top 10 ranked riders in the LGCT ranking in attendance, including Christian Kukuk (GER), Max Kühner (AUT), Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER), Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), Sophie Hinners (GER), Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) Andreas Schou (DEN), Simon Delestre (FRA), Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) and Gilles Thomas (BEL), the stage is set for an intense final battle.
Among the esteemed participants, just two riders stand on the precipice of history, contending for the coveted 2024 LGCT championship title. Both Christian Kukuk and Max Kühner will be looking to write their name into the history books for the first time. Currently, Kukuk holds a narrow lead with 242 points, followed closely by Kühner at 234 points. Both have secured one major victory this season - Kukuk topped the podium in Madrid, while Kühner took the win in St. Tropez, Ramatuelle.
Outside of the LGCT rankings, the current world number one Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) joins a host of other world-class riders who will bring their competitive edge to Rabat, including Daniel Deusser (GER), Ben Maher (GBR), Scott Brash (GBR), Marcus Ehning (GER), Philipp Weishaupt (GER), Niels Bruynseels (BEL), Pieter Devos (BEL), Denis Lynch (IRL), David Will (GER), Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE).
