The final of the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour took to Rabat, Morocco, for the first time this weekend. Set against a stunning backdrop, the grand finale of the 15-event series played out with all top 10 riders from the overall LGCT ranking present. With a combined prize pool exceeding €1.4 million for the overall ranking and the LGCT Grand Prix of Rabat, the event marked the first-ever CSI5* Grand Prix on the African continent.

Having been knocking on the door all season, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) and his wonderful Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot (L'Arc de Triomphe x Apache d'Adriers) gave it everything they had to win Sunday's LGCT Grand Prix of Rabat presented by Qatar’s Years of Culture as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. Recording their sixth clear in an LGCT Grand Prix this year, Aznar and 19-year-old Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot picked up the final ticket for the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix.

For a third year running Malin Bayard-Johnsson (SWE) and H&M Indiana (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Animo's Hallo) gave everyone a run for their money just missing out on a ticket for the LGCT Super Grand Prix by finishing second behind Aznar by 0.48 seconds, followed by Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) and Messi van'T Ruytershof (Plot Blue x For Pleasure) in third, Denis Lynch (IRL) on Brooklyn Heights (Nabab de Reve x For Pleasure) in fourth and Max Kühner (AUT) abord Elektric Blue P (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x For Pleasure) in fifth.

After his fifth place in Rabat, Max Kühner was crowned the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour Champion. The overall LGCT ranking of the season came down to the final LGCT Grand Prix of the season in Rabat, where Kühner faced fierce competition from Christian Kukuk (GER). Ultimately, a fence falling in round one for Kukuk and Just Be Gentle (Tyson x Ticallux Verte) and a clear from Kühner decided the title before the jump-off.

The 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour overall standings:

1. Max Kühner, 254 points
2. Christian Kukuk, 248 points
3. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann, 234 points
4. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar, 227 points
5. Maikel van der Vleuten, 212 points

As the Longines Global Champions Tour 2024-season draws to a close, all eyes turn to the GC Playoffs in Riyadh (KSA), where winners from each of the 15 legs return to fight for glory in the €1.25 million Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix.
