Shane Breen (IRL) and Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fara) made an easy job of the course in Friday's second qualification for Hamburg Derby.
A total of 63 horse-and-rider combinations lined up in the class, and out of these 18 were eliminated or retired after the derby fences turned out to be a too big challenge. Eight riders cleared the course though and fastest of them all was Breen with his 96.18 seconds. It took Sandra Auffarth (GER) 97.92 seconds to cross the finish line and secure the runner-up position riding Nupafeed’s La Vista (Lordanos x For Pleasure) – the same horse that Auffarth took the third place with in Hamburg Derby last year.
Last year’s winner Matthew Sampson (GBR) ended third, now riding Quality Old Joker (O.B.O.S Quality 004 x Slyguff Joker).
The prestigious Hamburger Derby will take place on Sunday, with 32 horse-and-rider combinations qualified.
