The $100,000 City of Ocala Grand Prix at the HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida (USA) was a challenging one. Out of the starter field of 39, only the top three kept a clear score in the first round over the 1.60m fences on a course set up by the course designer Marina Azevedo (BRA).
Fresh from their double clear round and victory in Friday's FEI Nations Cup, Cian O’Connor (IRL) and the 11-year-old gelding Seringat (Chef Rouge x Guillaume Tell) again took home the top honours as well as the first prize of $33,000 with their double clear performance with a time of 41,22 seconds in the jump-off.
Beezie Madden (USA) on the 11-year-old stallion Breitling LS (Quintero x Accord II) was right behind him though, finishing as runner-up with a time of 41,43 seconds in the jump-off. Ali Wolff (USA) on the 12-year-old gelding Casall (Casall x Capitol I) took the third place with a time of 41,86 seconds. Isabelle Lapierre (CAN) on the 10-year-old mare Cescha M (Diamant de Semilly x Calando) and Emanuel Andrade (VEN) on the 12-year-old stallion Ricore Courcelle (Quincy x Alme) both recorded an unfortunate time fault in the first round that kept them out of the jump-off, placing them fourth and fifth in the end.
The City of Ocala Grand Prix was a qualifier for the European Championships in Gothenburg 2017 and the World Equestrian Games 2018 in Tryon.
