Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) made it a home win in Saturday's CSIO5* 1.60m Trofeo Fundación Caja Rural de Gijon. Riding Seringat (Chef Rouge x Guillaume Tell), Aznar was one of five riders that made it to the jump-off. With a clear round in 37.98 seconds, Aznar finished on top of the podium.
The Spanish rider had over a second down to Francisco Pasquel (MEX) with Coronado (Cassini I x Acord II), who ended up in runner-up position ahead of Max Thirouin (FRA) with Jewel de Kwakenbeek (Cicero Z x Quidam de Revel).
It was only the top three that managed to go clear a second time around. Jodie Hall Mcateer (GBR) ended up with four faults in the jump-off and had to settle for fourth place, while Sameh El Dahan (EGY) got eight faults to finish fifth.
