Darragh Kenny (IRL) and the 9-year-old mare Chanel (Challan x Lordanos) started the CSIO5* show in Rotterdam in the very best way when winning Thursday’s 1,55m Dura Vermeer Prijs.
The class was a Table A against the clock with 59 riders in it, and Kenny crossed the finish line 1.5 seconds faster than runner-up Shane Breen (IRL) with Ispwich van de Wolfsakker (Carembar de Muze x Quick Star).
Third place went to Jessica Mendoza (GBR) and the 9-year-old Toy Boy (breeding unknown), while Luciana Diniz (POR) took fourth place riding Winningmood (Darco x Cassini I) and Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) fifth place with Hermes de Mariposa (Canturo x Power Light).
Later in the evening it was once again Ireland on top – this time it was Mark McAuley that won the 1,45m class in two phases. McAuley rode the 8 year old Jacintha v. Kriekenhof (Winningmood van de Arenberg x Skippy II). Peder Fredricson (SWE) ended second with Hasard (Heartbeat x Voltaire) ahead of Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) with Dana Blue (Mr. Blue x Hemmingway), Jur Vrieling (NED) with Zypern III (unknown) and Pål Flam (NOR) with Briljantbridge B (Radisson x Glennridge).
