After producing the only double clear in yesterday's Nations Cup in Gijon, Canada's Elizabeth Gingras delivered yet another top performance in Sunday's CSIO5* 1.50 speed class.
The four best riders from this class would also qualify for Monday's Grand Prix in Gijon, so for those not already in it was all or nothing which caused riders to go full speed from start to finish.
After taking an early tied lead, Egypyt's Sameh El Dahan and Mexico's Alberto Michan were topping the score board after both posting the time of 62.81 seconds. However, Gingras produced an exeptionally fluent and fast round on the 10-year-old Coup de Chance (Cardento x Darco) taking over the lead with a time as good as 59.50 seconds. The Canadian rider was not to be caught, and even though he tried Saudi rider Abdullah Al Sharbatly had to settle for second aboard Domingo (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Brownboy) with a time of 61.25 seconds.
