Jeroen Appelen (BEL) and the 9-year-old gelding Gently Z (Gentleman x Numero Uno) took the top honours in Saturday’s feature class at CSIO Sopot in Poland, the CSIO4* 1.50m NAMI Clinic&Medical Resort Cup, under the patronage of Horse&Business Magazine – which also served as the third and last qualifier for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
In a jump-off of eight, Appelen was the fastest when stopping the clock on 39.85 seconds – 0.92 seconds faster than runner-up Cyril Bouvard (FRA) riding Gaby de Courcel (Type Top Monteil x Lamm de Fetan). Martin Dopazo (ARG) and Mr Quincy B (Aganix du Seigneur x O-Piloth) completed the podium with a time of 40.81 seconds, while Alexis Goulet (FRA) and Global de Riverland (Vagabond de La Pomme x Kannan) finished fourth followed by Simon Crippen (GBR) and Handsome (Toulon x Phin-Phin) in fifth.
