From press release by CSIO Sopot
Thursday’s feature class at Lotto CSIO5* Sopot was the Porsche Centrum Sopot Prize, that had 44 horse-and-rider combinations at start. It was a technically difficult course, set at 1.50m – also counting as a qualification for Friday's Grand Prix.
Fresh from their Grand Prix victory in Poznan, Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) and Moon Ray ( Cornet Obolensky x Contender) took the victory ahead of home hero Wojciech Wojcianiec (POL) with Chintablue (Chintan x Chacco - Blue). Only 0.39 seconds separated the two riders.
Third place went to Simon Delestre (FRA) and Chadino (Chacco-Blue x Narew xx), while another Polish rider followed in fourth – Andrzej Opłatek, riding on Stalando (Stakkatol x Lando).
The beginning of the fifth edition of Lotto CSIO5* Sopot 2019 began with a weather breakdown and heavy rain, but fortunately it did not stop the competitors and their horses. In the 1.40m Energa Group Prize, Matthias Raisch (AUT) on Magic (Quidam de Revel x Argentinus) took the win, ahead of second placed Marcel Ewen (LUX) and third placed Massimo Grossato (ITA).
The 1.45m Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Prize saw Francois Mathy Jr. (BEL) on top riding Hello Diamant (Diamant de Semilly x Stakkato), ahead of Daniel Deusser (GER) on Kiana van het Herdershof (Toulon x Lys De Darmen) and Massimo Grossato (ITA) on Especiale Too (Ustinov x Landgraf I).
