Saturday’s most prestigious competition at CSIO5* Budapest was the 1.40m-1.60m EXIM Grand Prix, counting as a qualifier towards the 2018-2019 World Cup Final held in April in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The jump-off was international with ten riders representing eight different nations including Hungary, and only four competitors jumped another clear round.
History repeated itself after two decades as a Portuguese rider took first place in the Budapest CSIO Grand Prix: Luis Sabino Goncalves and the 9-year-old Dominka Van De Lucashoeve (Cardento 933 x Chin Chin) had the fastest time of the day in 42.61 seconds. Mr. Gyula Budai, Ministerial Commissioner representing the Ministry of Economics and Foreign Affairs, and Vilmos Lázár, president of the Hungarian Equestrian Federation, presented the riding couple and offered a Herend porcelain.
Polish rider Wojciech Wojcianiec finished as runner-up on Chintablue (Chintan x Chacco – Blue) in close competition within one second followed by Geir Gulliksen representing Norway riding Arakorn (Cantos x Damiro). The best Hungarian result, a great 9th place, belonged to István Fazekas on Walterral (Mythos x Justboy).
