One of the world’s most successful riders won Sunday’s CSIO3* Grand Prix de Luxembourg presented by POST / GEMENG RÉISER as Steve Guerdat (SUI) took the top honours on the 11-year-old mare Cayetana (Robin II Z x Papillon Rouge).
Seven riders went clear in the first round in this 1.60m Grand Prix and were joined by another five with a four-penalty score for round two against the clock, where five again repeated their clean sheets. Fastest of all was the 2012 Olympic Champion and double World Cup Champion, who stopped the clock on 43.40 seconds.
The hosts continued their success from Friday's Nations Cup to take both second and third place: Marcel Ewen on the 13-year-old stallion Excenel V (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Landetto) took runner-up position with a time of 44.05 seconds, while Christian Weier and the 11-year-old stallion Global (Nabab de Reve x For Pleasure) followed behind in 44.17 seconds.
Finally, Angelique Rüsen (GER) on Reavnir (Ricardos x Rombach) and Samy Colman (MAR) aboard Simara Alia (Lux Z x Cacao Courcelle) were double clear to finish fourth and fifth.
