France’s Nicolas Delmotte has withdrawn his horse Urvoso du Roch (Nervoso x Grand D’Escla) from the Olympic team competition after the gelding suffered a colic on Thursday evening. The pair will be replaced by Mathieu Billot and Quel Filou (Quidam’s Rubin x Cascavelle), who also jumped in the individual qualifier.

In a statement, the French Equestrian Federation writes (unofficial translation in English below):

“In the evening of Thursday, August 5, Nicolas Delmotte's horse Urvoso du Roch suffered from a colic. Cared for by the French team veterinarian, the 13-year-old Selle Français is doing well. He is resting and under medical treatment.

In order to protect the health and integrity of the horse, the staff of the French Equestrian Federation, Nicolas Delmotte and Marie-Claudine Morlion, the owner of the Selle Français, had no choice but to withdraw him from the competition.”
