The 35 best (plus equal scores) from the three previous individual qualifiers got to jump in Friday's final at the Olympic Games, and here are some of the thrills and spills that unfolded in Rio. First out Maikel van der Vleuten's Verdi that made his trademark buck over the finish line. All photos (c) Jenny Abrahamsson.
Cry me a river... Jeroen Dubbeldam and Zenith did a fantastic Games with only one foot in the water as their mistake. In the second round of the individual final however, luck was not on their side and the pair ended 0,02 seconds on the wrong side of the time allowed which prevented them from the jump-off for a medal.
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Fibonacci had to step in on the German team on the day the competitions began in Rio. They contributed to a German bronze team medal, but after a misunderstanding on the first fence during round one of the individual final Meredith withdrew her friend and their Olympics ended.
