Saudi Arabia wins team gold at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took team gold, Qatar silver and the United Arab Emirates bronze at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. 

After two rounds and a jump-off over fences set at 1.40m, the Saudi team made up of Abdulrahman Alrajhi and Ventago (Van Helsing x Hunter's Scendix), Meshari Alharbi and Cascadello Boy RM (Cascadello x Balou du Rouet), Ramzy Al Duhami and Untouchable 32 (Van Helsing x Lady's King) and Abdullah Alsharbatly aboard Skorphults Baloutendro (Contendros 2 x Balou du Rouet) took the gold with a total score of zero ahead of the Qatari team – Bassem Mohammed and Incredible W (Action-Breaker x Bollvorm’s Libero H), Rashid Al Marri and Concordess NRW (Congress 4 x Acobat 3), Khalifa Al Thani and Ierland VDL (Zapatero VDL x Indorado) and Faleh Al Ajami aboard Ghana (Vigo d'Arsouilles Stx x Cash) – in silver with four penalties.

“We came to do one mission, to win the gold, and we did it,” the Saudi team rider Alrajhi said in a press release from the FEI. 

The bronze went to UAE, with a team made up of Abdullah Al Marri and James vd Oude Heihoef (Douglas x Action-Breaker), Omar Aljneibi and Dalida vd Zuuthoeve (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Sir Lui), Salem Al Suwaidi and Diamond Way (Diamant de Revel x A'Khan Z) and Mohammed Al Hajri aboard G's Fabian (Gaillard de La Pomme x Lovis Corinth) after collecting a total of twelve penalties.
