After winning last night’s Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup with Team Sweden, Evelina Tovek continued her CHIO Aachen-debut with another victory on Friday morning. Riding the 10-year-old mare Cortina 212 (Contendro I x Waechter), the young Swede was the quickest in the 1.50m VBR-Prize – clocking the winning time of 32.48 seconds in phase two of the competition.
“Cortina is just amazing, and she loves the big grass ring here,” Evelina commented to World of Showjumping. “It is my first time showing here, and my trainer Henrik (von Eckermann) told me that I need to canter more than anywhere else. Luckily my horses seem to enjoy it here, so it’s been a lot of fun! The fact that Cortina is bred by Karl Schneider, who’s yard we are based at, makes this a great win for the team,” she continued.
Jur Vrieling (NED) on Dallas VDL (Douglas x Heartbreaker) took the runner-up position with a time of 33.00 seconds, while Willem Greve (NED) on Faro (Calvary F.C. x Contendro II) placed third. Fourth place went to Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) on Verdi TN (Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I) and the fifth spot to Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) on Vaillant de Belle Vue (Calin du Plessis x Peeping Tom A).
