Straight from their five-star Grand Prix victory in Paris last Sunday, Gregory Wathelet and Eldorado van het Vijverhof continued their winning streak in Saturday's Coupe de Genève at CHI Geneva.

Coupe de Genève is a 1.55m competition consisting of combinations. It was only six fences in the class, but five of them were combinations including a quadruple, so the horses had to do thirteen jumps in total. Fifteen horse and rider-combinations cleared the course, and set off for a race against the clock in the jump-off.

Niels Bruynseels (BEL) with Angel van’t Hof (Chin Chin x Nabab de Reve) was second in the ring for the jump-off, and pulled off a time that the coming riders chased without any luck. It was first when the second last rider entered the ring – Gregory Wathelet (BEL) with Eldorado van het Vijverhof (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Omar) – that the time was beaten. And Wathelet wasn’t just faster, he was almost three seconds faster! Also the last rider, Kevin Staut with Ayade de Septon et HDC (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Belle d’Avril du Mazy) crossed the finish line in a quicker time than Bruynseels and took over the second place.

Forth place went to Sheikh Ali Al Thani with Carolina 31 (Colman x Ramirado) and fifth to Christian Ahlmann with Epleaser van’t Heike (For Pleasure x Nabab de Reve).
