Cian O’Connor has sold C Vier 2 (Cardento x Concorde) to the US.

O’Connor acquired the 14-year-old gelding this spring, with the aim to help Ireland qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris during this year’s World Championship in Herning, Denmark. O’Connor accomplished his mission when the Irish team finished fourth in Herning, securing their Paris participation – and on the way there the pair also won the CSI4* 1.50m Lotto-Hessen Preis in Wiesbaden, as well as jumping clear rounds in the CSIO5* Nations Cups in Rome and Knokke. 

On his official Facebook account, O’Connor wrote: 

“Today C Vier left Karlswood on a journey to his new rider from USA. I was delighted to be a part of this special horse’s career, even if only for a few short months. In that time, we won a Grand Prix qualifier at Wiesbaden, jumped clear in the Nations Cups at Rome and Knokke but our highlight was undoubtedly the special clear he jumped in the first round of the Nations Cup at the World Championships in Herning, Denmark which helped Team Ireland secure Olympic qualification. Thanks to Mie Ostersen who took such great care of him for me and a huge thanks to Susan Magnier for purchasing him initially for me - we had a goal and we achieved it.

Before C Vier joined O’Connor, he had plenty of success with Germany’s David Will – earlier this year, the two finished 6th at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Leipzig. Last summer, the two were part of the German team that took the silver medal at the Longines FEI Jumping European Championships in Riesenbeck, where they also finished 7th individually.
