Germany's Andre Thieme and the 11-year-old Conacco (Conoglio x Chacco-Blue) won the €96,000 CSIO5* 1.55m City of Barcelona Trophy - MRW Cup in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday night. 

Nine pairs out of the 33 horse-and-rider-combinations at start moved on to the second round, where only the top three managed to deliver another clear. Jumping clear in a time of 49.93, Germany's Andre Thieme – the reigning European Champion – was the first man out under the lights in round two. Harrie Smolders (NED) on the 14-year-old Dolinn (Cardento 933 x Lux) got closest to the German, taking the runner-up position with a time of 51.34, while the third double clear of the night came from the talented Megane Moissonnier (FRA) on the 13-year-old Cordial (Casall x Chicago Z). Francisco Jose Mesquita Musa (BRA) on Catch Me Marathon (Contagio x Werther) was the fastest four-faulter, placing fourth ahead of Jerome Guery (BEL) on Azaria Dinero (Mylord Carthago x Drakkar Des Hutins) in fifth. 

The second CSIO5* class of the day, the 1.45m La Vanguardia Trophy went to Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) on the 10-year-old Cap Du Marais (Kannan x Landor S) ahead of Alex Codina Leria (ESP) on Cruising Star (Cruisings Micky Finn x Lux Z) in runner-up position. Gilles Thomas (BEL) on Feromas van Beek Z (Fantomas de Muze x Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) took the third place, while the fourth spot went to Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) on Kamara van'T Heike (Epleaser van'T Heike x Carthago) and fifth to Therese Søhol Henriksen (NOR) on Santos Z (Spartacus TN x San Patrignano Cassini).
