CHI Geneva 2022

Current world no. one, double world champion and Olympic team champion Henrik von Eckermann checked another item of his bucket list on Friday night when he and the incredible King Edward (Edward 28 x Feo) won the 21st edition of the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final at CHI Geneva. The pair was without a doubt the favourites for the title in Geneva and did not disappoint when taking the top honours in this annual highlight in the showjumping calendar.

“This was one of the targets, absolutely. It has been a target for many years,” Von Eckermann – who came second last year – said about finally getting to step to the top of the podium in the prestigious final. “Like I said when we had the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Stockholm when Daniel Deusser won it; I walked the course and spoke to Eleonora [Ottaviani, IJRC director] and said one day I would like to win this one, so it’s a very special moment for me.”

Von Eckermann of course also paid tribute to King Edward, who once again proved that he is a horse for the history books. “King Edward really deserved this, with all these good horses because he is absolutely one of them – I think he is going to be, or is, a historical horse and I am just very honoured to ride him.”

And with this we look back at more history being made in Geneva last night.
