The hosts continued their winning ways at the 2025-edition of Jumping International de Bordeaux in France on Saturday afternoon, with Olivier Robert (FRA) and the 11-year-old Espri du Figuier (Upsilon x Ryon d’Anzex) taking top honours in the CSI5*-W 1.45m Prix de Sutter Naturally.
Snatching the win from his compatriot Philippe Rozier and Prestigio LS La Silla (Presley Boy x Cash), Robert took the win with a time of 60.13, a second quicker than Rozier who had to settle for the runner-up spot. The current world number two, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and Emerine Z (Emerald x Camus) took the third place in 61.16, followed by Kevin Staut (FRA) and New Libero One d’Asschaut (Van Gogh x For Pleasure) in fourth in 61.53 and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) aboard Qevita vd Bisschop (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Elvis Ter Putte) in fifth in 62.66.
“Espri is a wonderful horse,” Robert told World of Showjumping afterwards. “His breeding is quite special. So far, he has been more of a second horse for me, but I think 2025 will be a year when he can do a few Grand Prix classes at well.”
Based in Bordeaux, Robert was full of praise for the enthusiastic audience. “I love this show,” he said. “I am so proud of the crowd here; they love the sport and support everyone – the atmosphere is always fantastic.”
