Press release from the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour
Great Britain’s 2024 and 2012 Olympic team gold medallist Scott Brash and the 11-year-old gelding Hello Valentino (Diamantino x Careful 28) wrapped up the Spring MET 2025 with a win in the CSI3* 1.50m Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort Grand Prix, which concluded the third and last week of competition as the fourth part of the spring tour at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova, Spain, came to an end on Sunday.
Nine out of the 53 horse-and-rider combinations at start cleared the first-round track built by Isabel Fernandez de Cañete and joined the deciding jump-off, where Brash and Hello Valentino clocked the winning time of 35.79 seconds.
Enrique Gonzalez (MEX) and Origi van de Zeshoek (Marius Claudius x Eldorado vd Zeshoek) took the runner-up spot with a time of 36.04, while Jane Annett (GBR) and Jywan (Etoulon x Karandasj) placed third in 37.97, followed by Carolina Aresu Garcia Obregon (ESP) on Loretta H (Windows vh Costersveld x Zelote VDL) in fourth in 38.75, and Hugo Alvarez Amaro (ESP) aboard Casaspezia (Casalido x Böckmann’s Lord Pezi) in fifth.
“I’m obviously delighted with the win,” Brash said afterwards. “Valentino jumped fantastic; I am very happy with him. I think the course was well built, with only nine clears – which is a good testament [to the course builder]. It is good to finish off the tour with a win.”
“It is always nice to come to Oliva and see how they give back to sport and try to improve every year,” Brash said about the venue at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova. “I am happy with my time here and ready to return home now.”
The action at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova resumes in September, with the Autumn MET 2025 kicking off on 30th September.
