For Saturday’s final of the Sparkassen Youngster Cup at CHIO Aachen, all eyes are on Spain’s Sergio Alvarez Moya and his 8-year-old mare Unicstar de l’Aumone (Ninio de Rox x Timorrak des Isles). Both the Sparkassen Youngster Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday and today were won by this promising pair. Last Tuesday, Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano was Moya’s greatest rival, while today France’s Simon Delestre came closest.
Unicstar de l’Aumone seems to be born as a winner; this granddaughter of Quick Star – her sire Ninio de Rox is by Quick Star – raced over today’s and last Tuesday’s track in the Aachener Soers like she has done it for years already. Spain’s Sergio Alvarez Moya rode as always with his amazing natural feeling and won today’s class with a difference of more than four (!) seconds. France’s Simon Delestre came closest, finishing as runner-up aboard the small, but extremely talented Utah d’Aiguilly (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Quick Star). Tuesday, Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and Chalou (Chacco-Blue x Baloubet du Rouet) also finished on a distance of more than two seconds behind Sergio Alvarez Moya.
Ireland’s Bertram Allen is not only a great talent himself; his 8-year-old GK Casper (Canto x Quantum) is a promising future prospect as well. In both Tuesday’s as today’s class, Bertram Allen and the bay stallion finished in third position. Today, Emanuele Gaudiano and Chalou finished fourth, followed by Germany’s Marcus Ehning and Calanda (Calido I x Chasseur I). On Tuesday Germany’s Christian Kukuk – who had to withdraw after his bad fall yesterday – finished fourth aboard Darc Horse (Douglas x Sydney), while Felix Hassmann and Sig Captain America (Captain Fire x Colin L) ended up fifth.
