The KWPN stallion Farmgraaf brought in the highest bid at the inaugural Future Sport Horse Sales in Asten (NED) on Monday night. The 6-year-old Verdi-son was sold for 190 000 Euro to the Van Grunsven-family.

All the horses at the auction were selected by Eric van der Vleuten senior and junior as well as Kees van de Oetelaar, and the quality attracted an auction crowd that included many familiar faces from the international showjumping circuit.

The second best horse was the 4-year-old mare El Wikke – by Eldorado van de Zeshoek and out of the Wikke, a full sister of Edwina Tops-Alexander’s former ride Vleut. El Wikke was sold to Marta Ortega Perez for 180 000 Euro.

“I think we can be very satisfied with the first auction. I believe we got the horses to the right people and I hope they will be very happy with them,” says Eric van der Vleuten to World of Showjumping. “I'm also very proud of our children for the way they organized the auction, because that was all in their hands.”
