Day two of the Longines Masters of Los Angeles was nothing but action-packed as Nayel Nassar and Lordan (Lordanos x Landor) finished on top after besting the field of thirty competitors in the Longines Speed Challenge.
The duo raced against the clock and finished with an impressive time of 63.47 seconds. Kevin Staut and Samuel Parot rounded off the podium in second and third place, with times of 63.90 and 65.18 respectively.
Unique to the Longines Masters Series, the Longines Speed Challenge emphasizes the swiftness of the horses as each fault is only penalized by two seconds as opposed to the standard four. This gives less consequence to a rail down, with riders focusing on getting through the course as fast as possible.
It was actually Staut that had the quickest round of the three on the podium in the Longines Speed Challenge, but a rail fell half-way for the French rider and Elky van het Indihof HDC (Toulon x Thunder van de Zuuethoeve) and the two had to settle for runner-up position with two seconds added to their excellent time. Aboard Quick du Pottier (Hurlevent de Breka x Cuba), Parot left all the rails intact but was however slower than Staut settling into third.
