2016 Olympic Champion Nick Skelton and his long-time groom Mark Beever were crowned Best Athlete and Best Groom at the FEI Awards 2016. 

Skelton was up against some serious competition for his award as Best Athelete, with dressage legend Isabell Werth (GER), eventing rider Astier Nicolas (FRA) and Paralympic dressage rider Sophie Christiansen (GBR) as the three other nominees. Four grooms were nominated for the award that went to Beever, who has worked for Skelton for over 30 years.
