Johnny Pals (NED) and the 13-year-old gelding Urjul van Generhese (Indian Gold van Castershoeve x Elanville) went to the top in a tough Derby of Flanders Memorial Nick Motmans at CSIO5* Lummen on Saturday.
Out of the eleven riders in the derby, none managed to produce clears in the first round. The best scores counted eight penalties, and with five of them a jump-off was secured.
Against the clock, Johnny Pals was the fastest of the five riders stopping the clock at 43.95 seconds after a clear round. With a time of 45.53 seconds, Dermott Lennon (IRL) followed as runner-up aboard Gelvins Touch (Touchdown x Diamond Lad). Steve Guerdat (SUI) took third place on Dioleen (Rhodium x Weltino), also he clear in the jump-off with a time of 48.92 seconds. Sanne Thijssen (NED) also left the fences intact against the clock to secure the fourth place, while fifth place went to Wesley Carmans (BEL) with four faults in the jump-off.
