It would be Switzerland's Werner Muff and his 9-year-old super talent Daimler (Canturano x Lupicor) that would put a stop to the Irish winning streak at Dublin Horse Show, with a victory in the concluding Longines International Grand Prix of Ireland.

The home riders have been more or less unstopable in Dublin, and have won every single five-star class apart from the Nations Cup – and as it would turn out, today's Grand Prix worth 200 000 Euro.

A total of 39 riders had lined up for the Grand Prix, and nine of them managed to prodce clear rounds over the 1.60m track to move on to the jump-off. 

There, Muff and Daimler were the fastest pair with their time of 37.06 seconds. It was close to another win for the hosts however, as Denis Lynch and RFM Echo (Virus de Laubry x Feo) finished with a time only 0.11 seconds slower than that of Muff to take the runner-up position. 

Two American ladies followed in third and fourth, after winning Friday's Nations Cup: Beezie Madden on the 9-year-old Coach (Con Air x Corofino I) with a time of 37.25 seconds and Lauren Hough on Ohlala (Orlando x Cardento) in 37.61. Steve Guerdat made sure there were two Swiss riders in the top five, when he rounded it off aboard Hannah (Dulf van den Bisschop x Kashmir van Schuttershof). 

Earlier in the day, Cian O’Connor and the 12-year-old stallion Copain du Perchet CH (Conteur x Ragazzo) took another Irish victory in the 1.45-1.50 Speed Championship – crossing the finish line clear in 65.29 seconds. It was the pair’s second five-star win of the week. 

It was another Irish clean sweep with Billy Twomey finishing as runner-up with Ardcolum Duke (Gypsy Duke x Clover Hill) – 0.15 behind the O'Connor's time, while Shane Breen finished third with Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fara).
