Henrik von Eckermann and Chacanno top the Longines FEI World Cup Grand Prix in Sharjah

The CSI5*-W event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, H.H.Ruler of Sharjah Cup, concluded on Saturday with the FEI World Cup Jumping Arab League. With 145,000 Euros of prize money on offer, the 1.60m competition over two rounds saw 33 horse-and-rider combinations line up for the challenge. Eleven of them cleared the track set by the course designer Louis Konickx, that counted 13 obstacles and 16 efforts in the first round.  

Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) on the 11-year-old gelding Chacanno (Chacco Blue x Kannan) continued to show fine form, clocking a time of 43,24 seconds in round two against the clock and taking home the win. Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) on the 12-year-old stallion Caspar (Berlin x Padarco 2) had to settle for the runner-up position with a time of 43,93 seconds, while Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi (UAE) on the 13-year-old mare Cha Cha Cha (Chacco Blue x Quick Star) took the third spot with a time of 45,64. Abdullah Al Sharbatly (KSA) on the 13-year-old gelding Crazy Quick (Chacco Blue x Quick Star) took the fourth place, and the fifth spot went to Luiz Felipe De Azevedo Filho (BRA) on the 13-year-old gelding Chaccomo (Chacco Blue x Contender) – also they double clear.

Earlier during the day, the Sharjah Islamic Bank Final, a 1.50m competition with a jump-off, saw some serious girl power on top. Cecilie Hatteland (NOR) on the 13-year-old gelding Alex (Oklund x Fruhling) took the top honours after stopping the clocks on 42,51 seconds, while Evelina Tovek (SWE) on the 9-year-old mare Dalila de la Pomme (Taran de la Pomme x Diamant de Semilly) took the runner-up position with a time of 43,09. Mohammed Ahmed Al Owais (UEA) on the 11-year-old mare Tina la Boheme (Calvaro x Arpege Pierreville) placed third with a time of 44,65 seconds and Ioli Mytilineou (GRE) on the 12-year-old gelding Broadway (Vancouver x Heartbreaker) took the fourth place in a time of 46,11. The fifth spot went to Luis Sabino Goncalves (POR) on the 13-year-old gelding Acheo di San Patrignano (Ephebe for Ever x Nadir di San Patrignano).
