World no. one Harrie Smolders has a new horse in the stable: The 11-year-old gelding Hocus Pocus de Muze (Tinka’s Boy x For Pleasure).

The gelding has been brought up to 1.55m level by Dutch rider Lisa Nooren, who won a 1.45m class with him at CSI4* Ommen back in August as well as taking a second place in a 1.55m at CSIO5* Gijon and in a 1.45m at CSI3* Mâcon Chaintré.

Smolders has already done his first show with Hocus Pocus de Muze, jumping him in Lier at the beginning of November.

It was at the end of September that Nooren announced that she would be parting ways with Hocus Pocus de Muze, sharing the following post on her official Facebook page

"It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that I have to let you know that the partnership between my brave Hocus Pocus and I has come to an end. For three years I was privileged enough to ride this amazing horse. To say he has a special heart is an understatement. He was my best friend at so many shows, and our second place in the 1.60m in Gijon a couple of weeks ago was the absolute cherry on the cake. I wish him all the luck in the future and most of all I wish him all the love! Thank you to Kurt Deklerck and An Vervoort for their faith in us these past years. I will miss you little man."
