Christian Ahlmann (GER) dominated Thursday’s 1.45m Léon Melchior Open Sires of the World Zangersheide competition in Mechelen, taking the top honors with Caribis Z (Caritano x Canabis Z) and finishing third with Dominator 2000 Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cassini I). The only other rider that managed to squeeze in between Ahlmann’s stallions was Francois Mathy Jr. (BEL), who finished second riding Casanova de L’Herse (Ugano Sitte x Kashmir van Schuttershof).
A total of 32 stallions competed in the class, and ten of them cleared the first round to continue to the jump-off. There another eight were clear and the class offered some very fast jump-off rounds.
Fourth place went to Jos Verlooy (BEL) with Romeo de Villaret (Mr. Blue x If de Merze) and fifth place to Nicola Philippaerts (BEL) with Bisquet Balou C (Balou du Rouet x Polydor).
