Press release from the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour

The spring edition of the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova, Spain, resumes this week when the third part of the event gets underway.

Kicking off on the 12th of March, the Spring MET III counts three weeks of international competition running until the 31st of March. With a total of 436,500 Euro of prize money on offer and nine classes counting for the Longines Ranking, the first two weeks of competition are CSI2* and CSI1* while the last week is a CSI3* and CSI1* – all with Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours. Each week also offers CSIYH classes for young horses at the age of five, six and seven.

Some of the very best horses and riders in the world are returning to Oliva Nova for the Spring MET III, among them the winner of this season’s first Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, Julien Epaillard (FRA). “I have been coming to Oliva Nova for years already and I am always happy to return here. My team and my horses enjoy the professional facilities, for me this is the perfect place to prepare my horses for the upcoming season and to get the younger horses going. With the level of horses and riders, the competition is always tough,” Epaillard says.

Joining Epaillard are names like European and WEG team gold medalist Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER), WEG team bronze medalist Maurice Tebbel (GER), Olympian Sam McIntosh (NZL), Belgian Champion Karel Cox (BEL), the whole team from Ashford Farm (BEL) – that continues on from a successful Spring MET II – as well as the entire Gulliksen-family (NOR). With over 240 riders from 41 different nations, the three weeks of Spring MET III will be filled with excitement and high-level competition.

The Spring MET 2019 continues after MET III with its fourth and final part MET IV, which takes place in April.
