The Spruce Meadows ’Masters’ 2019 kicked off with an Irish win for Daniel Coyle and Cita (Casall x Pik Ramiro) in the CSIO5* 1.50m Telus Cup with a jump-off.

A total of 19 horse-and-rider combinations cleared the first round – out of the 64 starting – and 17 decided to come back for the jump-off. Home hero Eric Lamaze (CAN) took an early lead with Chacco Kid (Chacco-Blue x Come On), but didn’t get to keep it for long as Eduardo Menezes (BRA) and Ennebel van het Posthuijs (Numero Uno x Argentinus) shaved 0.57 seconds off his time. It looked like Menezes would end up as the winner of the class, but as last to go Daniel Coyle and Cita pushed him down to runner-up position.

Coyle dominated the Telus Cup, as he also took the 4th place riding Legacy (Chippendale Z x Bon Ami). Fifth place went to Omer Karaevli (TUR) with Cheston de la Pomme d’Or Z (Chippendale Z x Contendro II).
