From press release from the Sunshine Tour
It was a perfect day for the first CSI4* of the XXVI Sunshine Tour, with plenty of sun and an electric atmosphere as around 1000 combinations took to the arenas on Thursday. In the CSI4* 1.50m Big Tour, Dermott Lennon (IRL) and MJM Pursuit (Aldato x breeding unknown) really demonstrated their talents, beating 108 competitors – 46 of whom went clear in this speed class.
The time allowed was 73sec, but Dermott left everyone speechless as he stopped the clock in a mere 58.74sec. Dermott knows his 11-year-old mare really well and is very familiar with the arenas at the Sunshine Tour.
“I am very happy with the way the mare is jumping. I hope that we can do well this weekend in the Grand Prix class, that’s my objective for this week,” Lennon commented.
Julie Welles (USA) also had a excellent day taking second place with the talented mare Ambra (Quintender x Grandeur) in 59.83 seconds. Andreas Schou (DEN) ended third in the class with Quadrossom Ask (Quadros 3 x Carentan), after stopping the clock at 60.63 seconds. Fourth went to Derin Demirsoy (TUR) on Dadjak ter Puttenen (Toulon x Vanitas), and fifth to James Wilson (GBR) on Imagine de Muze (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin).
