Due to the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, CHIO Rotterdam has been cancelled. The event was scheduled for June 18-21 2020, and was the host of one of the legs in the Longines FEI Nations Cup Europe Division 1. The 72nd edition of CHIO Rotterdam has been postponed to June 24-27, 2021. "We are very, very sorry but in these circumstances we have to take responsibility for the health of the public, competitors, VIP guests, sponsors, volunteers, partners and everyone else involved and it is best to take such a difficult decision in an early stage," said Theo de Rooij, president of CHIO Rotterdam.
The cancellation means that the Longines FEI Nations Cup Europe Division 1 is down to five legs, as the organisers of Longines Jumping International de La Baule also pulled their traditional spring event out of the calendar due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The FEI has already informed that the Jumping Committee will be looking at the Longines FEI Nations Cup as a whole, following the cancellation of the first leg in Europe Division 1. The FEI is also working closely with the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) on the EEF series.
