Haras de Clarbec has announced that their incredible mare Flora de Mariposa (For Pleasure x Power Light) has passed away at the age of 15. With Penelope Leprevost in the saddle, Flora de Mariposa jumped to team gold for France at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as well as to team silver at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen.

A statement from Haras de Clarbec reads: “It is with deep and infinite sadness and immense heartbreak that we announce the disappearance of our fantastic mare Flora de Mariposa, that has just been torn from us brutally, by a devastating endotoxemia.”

Flora de Mariposa and Leprevost had a special partnership. Next to their medals, they won the CSI5* World Cup Grand Prix in Oslo as well as in Lyon in 2015, the CSI5* Grand Prix in Antwerp in 2016 – and they were also on the winning French Nations Cup teams in La Baule in 2017 and Rotterdam in 2014. Other big victories came in Leipzig, London, Paris, Verona and Zurich.

In their emotional farewell, Flora’s owners Dominique and Geneviève Mégret of Haras de Clarbec write:

“We will remember her as a magical mare of pure talent, for whom jumping was easy and natural and who flew over the jumps with extraordinary determination and personality.

Dear Flora, you were the mare of a lifetime, it has been a huge honour to be your owners. You will be deeply missed.

Goodbye Champion, you are leaving us too soon. Wherever you are now, be happy! Your life and your image will remain etched forever in the depths of our memories and our hearts.”

At World of Showjumping, our thoughts go out to everyone at Haras de Clarbec and all those close to Flora de Mariposa.
