Yet another leg of the Longines FEI World Cup Western European League has been cancelled when the Longines CSI of Basel announced their cancellation today. This means that we now only have three legs left of the league before the final in Gothenburg in April 2021.
On Longines CSI Basel’s website the following statement can be read:
“It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel the LONGINES CSI BASEL from January 7th - 10th, 2021 due to the current COVID situation. The last few days have shown a very poor development of the situation, especially in the Basel region, where major events with over 1,000 spectators were banned by the end of the year. This makes serious preparation of the event impossible. This not only applies to us, but also to the riders.
We sincerely thank our partners. It is fantastic how everyone, and especially the whole Basel region, came along to make this event possible. Thanks also to everyone who has worked so hard for this event. In spring we will start again with the preparation of the LONGINES CSI BASEL from 13.-16. January 2022. Hopefully then under completely different conditions."
