Matthew Sampson and Ebolensky win the AKITA Drilling Winning Round at Spruce Meadows

The AKITA Drilling Winning Round got Saturday's action started in the International Ring at the 'North American' Tournament at Spruce Meadows. A total of 35 riders had qualified for the CSI5* 1.50m AKITA Drilling Winning Round, where the top 10 horse-and-rider combinations returned for the winning round.

Five nations were represented in the winning round. With Gamble (Vingino x Indoctro), Conor Swail (IRL) laid down a quick clear in a time of 42.65 seconds, however, Matthew Sampson (GBR) was determined to continue his winning ways aboard Ebolensky (Clinton x Heartbreaker). Sampson sailed through the finish line with a lightning fast time of 41.81 seconds, marking his tenth win during the 2022 Spruce Meadows Summer Series.

The Canadian followed strong in force: Third place went to Ali Ramsay (CAN) and Bonita vh Keizershof Z (Bustique x For Pleasure), with a time of 43.26 seconds, followed by Amy Millar on Christiano (Canoso x Compliment) in fourth and Kara Chad on Quidamo F (Quality 9 x Chameur) in fifth.
