This week, during the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, Ludger Beerbaum will be making a comeback on the German team when jumping in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Great Britain. It’s been nearly six years since the 58-year-old rider announced that he would make his final team appearance for Germany – with the 2016 FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona being his last competition as part of the German squad.

“Otto [Becker] was short of riders for the Nations Cup at Hickstead, so I agreed to help out this one time,” Beerbaum said to World of Showjumping about his comeback on the German team, with the 10-year-old mare Mila – that earlier this year won the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City.

Beerbaum has a long and successful career on the German team behind him, with four gold medals and one bronze medal from the Olympic Games, two gold, one silver and one bronze from the World Championships, as well as six gold, three silver and two bronze medals from the European Championships.
