After a fantastic sports career, Niels Bruynseels' super-mare Gancia de Muze (Malito de Reve x Nimmerdor) has been retired from the sport. During an emotional retirement ceremony on home soil at the Brussels Stephex Masters, where the now 16-year-old mare won the Rolex Grand Prix on two occassions, the crowds celebrated her exceptional achievements in the sport.

With Bruynseels in the saddle, the now 16-year-old mare won the CSI5* Grand Prix of Helsinki in 2016, the CSI5* Grand Prix of Basel in 2017, the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix at Brussels Stephex Masters in 2017, the CSI5* Grand Prix of Mechelen in 2017, the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters in 2018, the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix of Knokke in 2018, the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Final in Barcelona in 2018 with the Belgian team, the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix of Cannes in 2019, the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix at Brussels Stephex Masters in 2019, and the CSI5* Grand Prix in Grimaud in 2020 – just to mention some of the pair's biggest victories.

On his official Instagram page, Bruynseels wrote:

"Dear Gancia,

Thank you for being my partner for the last 7 years.

You changed me as a rider and made me feel like I had the best horse in the world. Everybody always felt challenged when they saw your name in the start list of any Grand Prix. You made my career what it is today. Together we reached unbelievable goals.

Thank you princess, enjoy your life.

Happy retirement,

- Niels"

At World of Showjumping, we wish Gancia a happy retirement!
