Adrienne Sternlicht – My 2018

Interview

“For me it was an incredible year, a bit of a whirlwind!

The year was very much broken up into segments for me, most clearly pre and post WEG. The beginning of the year I focused on building confidence in my relationship with Cristalline and on honing the fundamentals of my riding. Once making the long list, I realize in retrospect I entered a bit of a vortex, caring really only about the dream of making the team! The fall was a time for me to process it all, though we were still showing so I found that it was a bit difficult.

I now realize what an important year it was for me as a rider, I learned a tremendous amount! At this moment, I take greater pride in that growth and the experience we had than in the result itself.

Looking to 2019, I am most eager to develop my partnerships with some of my other less experienced horses. I’m very hopeful for their futures so that’s what I’ll be focused on, especially in the first half of the year. I’m fortunate that several of my horses are entering their peak years, coming 10 or 11. To compete on the Pan-Ams would be a dream come true, so hopefully we’ll set ourselves up for that!

I wholeheartedly believe that between Mclain and his team at Castle Hill and my own, I’m surrounded by the best group of people possible. It’s really up to me to make it happen, and I’m very grateful that’s my reality!”
