“2018 was a very good year. I had a little bit of bad luck right before the WEG, but for the rest everything was really, really good. Aachen was super for me, I was fourth in the Rolex Grand Prix with Babalou – that was one of the highlights this season. I had a good winter in Florida too, where I won the CSI3* Adequan® Grand Prix with Cassini Z. Then, Babalou and Balou du Reventon won a Grand Prix each at the Kentucky Horse Show in the spring.
Looking towards other horse-and-rider combinations, I think Gancia de Muze and Niels Bruynseels have been unbelievable this year. It’s a horse that has been doing fantastic, and this year she won both the five-star Grand Prix of Den Bosch and Knokke. She has been so consistent all year, in so many different arenas. Also Marcus Ehning’s win on home soil in the Grand Prix of Aachen, that was fantastic.
For next year, I hope Balou du Reventon – that I got in March this year – or Babalou will be my partner for the Europeans. Both of the horses are fantastic.”
