“I had a pretty good year. I became no. one in the world with my team at Euro Horse and Copernicus, a first time for all of us. I think that is a great achievement for the whole team, that worked hard for many years. We were never really focused on the rankings, but because of Euro Horse and Copernicus combined I had six horses for top level with the right age and experience – and that is why the last two years were so successful for me and why I could focus only on the sport. I was never in that position before, I was always developing horses or riding dealing horses or teaching.
I had so many great results this year, it is difficult to pick one – I have had lots of highlights.
Looking at other riders, I think Simone Blum was outstanding at the World Championships – it all came together for her there.
I don’t have any major goals for 2019, my top horses get 15 so my big challenge will be to find my next string of top horses if I want to be able to stay at the highest level of our sport. For the Dutch team, we are already qualified for the Olympics so at the European Championships in Rotterdam we can keep our focus on trying to make it to the podium.”
