"My 2018 was a real eye opener – I got my true introduction to the sport on the top level. Everything happened so fast, it’s been a whirlwind, really.

It was for sure my best year ever, with two gold medals at the European Champions and then getting to ride my first five-star show the week after, in Aachen of all places. It was a special opportunity and I am thankful for the Young Riders Academy for that and for all the help and support they have given me throughout the year. I was the only Brit riding in Aachen and to qualify for the Grand Prix was a huge deal for me. From there on, the season really opened up and I also got to ride in the Longines Global Champions Tour of London and placed sixth in the Grand Prix there. That was another highlight in the year, as well as my debut in the senior Nations Cup in the five-star show in Gijon, where I was one of only two double clears.

All of this would not have been possible without my groom Dan and my dad and the whole team at home, I am very grateful for them.

For me a horse and rider that really stood out this year would have to be Simone Blum and Alice. They jumped the best in Tryon, it was amazing. It was nice to see someone not so high in the world ranking win; going into Tryon I think everyone knew Alice is a special horse, but to go in there and prove it in such a way Simone did, she stayed so cool. Another pair that stood out this year for me would have to be Ben Maher and Explosion W."
